Try January is an ideal way for learners to try out adult education courses. It has taken place every year since 2022 and brings East Riding residents the opportunity to try out an unlimited number of taster courses.
Adult education courses are on offer on Bridlington and beyond.
There are a wide range of courses available, from Wellbeing for You through Art, Crochet, Pottery, English, Maths, and Digital Skills. There’s a variety of creative courses and qualifications to try, with opportunities for residents to improve their wellbeing, skills, and knowledge.

Courses are on offer in the Adult Learning Centres, online, or at numerous pop-up locations across the East Riding such as their Mobile Adult Learning Centre. The Adult Learning centres can be found in Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, and Goole.
Susan Johnson, who joined a self-esteem and confidence building course said “I’ve come out in myself, being here and meeting new people. It’s helped take me out of my little comfort zone. Doing my course is making me feel better about myself.”

Another learner, Tim Gillbanks said “The reason I find this learning centre fantastic, is the tutors and staff in general are very helpful in all areas. It is very easy to learn as the tutors are very understanding when teaching.”
These Try courses are delivered as part of an investment of over £1.1m of funding specifically for tailored learning and addressing several key areas of development across the East Riding. They’re intended to support the development of stronger communities, preparation for further learning, preparation for employment, improving essential skills and supporting residents’ health and wellbeing.
