Acclaimed composer’s work to be performed in Dunfermline

Helen Leach, who was principal clarinet with the Scottish Youth Orchestra and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, wrote As The Feet of a Deer specifically for the chamber music group, Trio Ecossaise.

They will perform it at their upcoming Dunfermline concert on January 19 with the composer herself in attendance.

Leach has also directed the music for live BBC broadcasts, including her own compositions and arrangements on Radio 4.

Her Prelude for a Royal Swan was featured on Radio 3 on the anniversary of the accession to the throne of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Trio Ecossaise consists of Jennifer Brown on clarinet, Harriet Davidson on the cello, and Claire Haslin on the piano. They have worked together for over fifteen years and perform community work in hospitals for dementia patients and newborns.

The concert takes place on Sunday, January 19 at 4pm in Viewfield Baptist Church, East Port Dunfermline.

Tickets can be purchased on Dunfermline Music’s website.
