Slow traffic was reported on the A49 Tarporley Road near Higher Whitley at rush hour.
Cheshire Police has confirmed that it attended the scene shortly before 9am, with the incident occurring between Street Lane and to Grimsditch Lane.
No injuries were reported, and the road has since reopened.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At around 8.50am on Thursday, January 2, police were called to reports of a collision on the A49 Tarporley Road.
“The incident involved two cars. There are not believed to be reports of any injuries.
“The road was closed while highways teams gritted the road. It has since reopened.”
One fire engine from Lymm Fire Station attended the scene, with firefighters finding that one car had left the road and was on its side.
The crew made sure the vehicle was safe and attended to the driver at the scene.
A fire engine from Penketh Fire Station was sent to another two-vehicle crash at around 10.30am, on Clay Lane in Burtonwood.
Firefighters made the scene safe and directed traffic, with police also in attendance.
