5 films you might not have known were shot in Worcestershire

The county’s railways, in particular, seem to be an ideal filming location for directors and movie makers, as they feature in a few blockbusters.

Here are five movies you might not know were filmed in Worcestershire.

The Holiday (2006)

Christmas classic, The Holiday, was filmed in a variety of locations across the UK- including Worcestershire.

According the IMDB, while it was mainly shot in Surrey, some of the UK road scenes were filmed in Great Wolford.

Howards End (1992)

This 90s romance stars Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins- and some of the train scenes were filmed in Worcestershire.

Both the Victoria Bridge and Bewdley Station feature as ‘Hilton Railway Station’ in the movie.

Candleshoe (1977)

Severn Valley Railway feature once again in this Walt Disney production.

Victoria Bridge and Arley Railway Station  feature several times in the movie. Notably, Arley station appears at the very end of the film when a train is approaching in the distance.

This 90s comedy features Worcestershire’s Hagley Hall, which masquerades as Buckingham Palace and Willingham’s Office.

The Thirty Nine Steps (1978)

This 70’s remake also features Severn Valley Railways- including those in Worcestershire.

Victoria Bridge featured in the iconic scene where Robert Powell hangs from underneath the bridge to avoid police capture.
