150,000 reduced tickets in GWR January sale

Great Western Railway (GWR) has launched its January Sale, offering up to 50 per cent off on 150,000 train tickets, including routes serving Torbay.

From Thursday, 2 January, to Thursday, 9 January, passengers can purchase discounted tickets for travel between Friday, 10 January, and Sunday, 13 April 2025.

The sale includes 100,000 Standard Class seats and 50,000 First Class seats, available at half the price of GWR’s most popular Advance fares.

For example, passengers can book Standard Class tickets for as little as £21 between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads, while First Class tickets are available from £37 for travel between London Paddington and Bath Spa.

For those in Torbay, Newton Abbot is a key hub in the GWR network, providing access to travel across the region and beyond.

With the sale offering discounted fares on services to locations like Oxford, Swansea, and Cornwall, it’s an ideal opportunity for Torbay residents to plan getaways or city breaks in the months ahead.

Amanda Burns, GWR Sales and Marketing Director, commented on the offer: “The January Sale is designed to encourage people off the sofa and away from the post-Christmas telly to explore the fantastic sights of the southwest instead. Our Advance fares offer great value throughout the year, but in our sale you’ll find some great deals available on some of the lowest fares.”

Tickets for journeys across the GWR network are available for as little as seven pence per mile, making it a cost-effective way to visit attractions or enjoy scenic breaks in Devon and beyond.
